Have brunch with Garrison Keillor

Six lucky folks will enjoy brunch with Garrison Keillor, host and writer of A Prairie Home Companion and The Writer’s Almanac, on Sunday, March 12 at 11:00 am at a private home in Newton Corner. The Newton Symphony Orchestra will raffle six seats to the brunch and will draw the winning tickets at the Keillor performance on Saturday evening, March 11 at the Rashi Auditorium, Newton Corner. The cost of raffle tickets is $5 for 1 ticket and $20 for 5 tickets.

The concert, an evening of comedy, music and stories, and the brunch are being organized as a benefit for the Newton Symphony Orchestra. In addition, a pre-concert reception will be held on Saturday, March 11 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 at the home of Alderman Victoria Danberg and Dr. John Ficarelli.

Mr. Keillor worked for Minnesota Public Radio in 1969 on a morning program called “A Prairie Home Companion”. He developed an idea for a radio show with musical guests and commercials for imaginary products and, in 1974, he hosted the first live broadcast of “A Prairie Home Companion” at Macalester College in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Tickets sold for $1and there was an audience of 12. Keillor’s “A Prairie

Home Companion” can be heard on National Public Radio on Saturdays at 6:00 pm and Sundays at 12:00 noon.
